Professional Background and Artistic Development
Xue Shuwen brings a distinctive perspective to visual art through her professional background in performing arts. Her experience includes working as a contracted dancer for Beijing Television and receiving professional training at the National Theatre of China under director Tian Qinxin. These experiences have significantly informed her approach to exploring physical expression and embodiment in her visual practice.

"My background in performance has provided me with a profound understanding of the body as a primary medium of expression," Xue commented. This understanding manifests in her painting practice through textured surfaces that merge physical gesture with psychological depth.
Conceptual Framework and Awarded Work
The central work in her awarded series, "My Body and I," employs layered painting techniques to investigate themes of identity construction and self-representation. The work's technical approach, which suggests both decomposition and reconstruction of form, serves as a visual metaphor for examining personal and cultural identity.
